This many pull ups before murph?
This is actually a great question. First of all, I program workouts toward a specific goal (Summer Swole-Stice in this cycle) and on a Monday-Friday basis. Saturday workouts are always a bonus workout and at times are random in relation to the current macrocycle. Throwing in a random workout from time to time breaks up the cycle and from an adaptation standpoint is something the body really likes. In respect to Murph, the workout itself is an anomaly which unless you are a top games competitor is something you really can’t or shouldn’t train for or around. That said today’s workout is no different than any other that the movements should be scaled, substituted or frankly ignored altogether either because of fatigue, callous tears or in this case anticipation of a lot more pull-ups. I would also add that while it’s rare that I program 100 pullups in a single workout it’s pretty common that we have 50 or 60. Hope that helps.
