I saw the CrossFit I35 sign off the highway so I decided to look up the company on the website and check out their schedules and offerings. I watched CrossFit on TV before and was familiar with the lifts from my time as a former football player. I remember doing the Olympic lifts and how strong I got and how good I felt afterwards. Plus I was feeling even more fat in the middle of winter and wanted to lose fat and step away from the table.
I really wanted address my high blood pressure too. I could not do a Pull Up, Toe to Bars, or Chest to Bar Pull Ups. Now, I can do all three. I also wanted to lose 10% body fat and 10 lbs. I did that. Now I want to be under 10% body fat and lose another 15 lbs.
I also want to do a handstand pushup with my back against the wall and a handstand walk. I know I’ll get there because there is no substitution for hard work, sweat (I sweat a lot), and dedication.
When I began, I was worried I would get hurt or just not be strong enough. I also struggled with the time commitment. So I primarily worked out at 530a before work. I overcame these worries by starting my routine and looking in the mirror. The peeps at the gym are really encouraging and friendly. I like the fact that Scott is an athlete and takes the time to teach the movements the right way. Cynthia is very encouraging and I remember when she said to show up 3-4 times per week and you will start to see results. It will make a difference in my performance. I used to have some discomfort in my right shoulder before I joined and the pain is gone. My energy is better and I don’t mind tucking my shirt in. My blood pressure has gone done significantly and my doctor prescribed a half dose with the goal to get off the medicine.
