I received my Crossfit Level One Certificate in February 2019, but my athletic career began by playing sports in high school. I played for the Leavenworth, KS Pioneers in Basketball, Track&Field, Swimming, and Power Lifting. After that, I went on to compete for the University of Kansas Women’s Rowing team. It was actually during my time as a rower that I found Crossfit. I was searching for some variety in my training during the, and Crossfit gave me just that. Strength training, cardio endurance, a new challenge, and never the same workout twice, while still a team to work with every day.
I have moved cities three times to pursue education and work since starting full-time Crossfit. I’ve been to gyms where Crossfit is only a business, and individual athletes aren’t cherished, others with no goal setting or programming, and very few that get it. What a sigh of relief it was to find I35 and that they fit in that last category! I saw an ad for I35, gave it a try, and ended my membership at my previous gym the very same day. I35 Fitness has the athlete in mind from the programming and nutrition to safety, all while including you in a community.
My favorite part of training at CrossFit I35 is its strength programming. I now compete in Strongman competitions, and occasionally local Crossfit meets. Although I have reached many personal strength goals since starting Crossfit at I35, I get even more excited when I master a gymnastic movement. After years of working, I have recently gotten Toes-To-Bars (woohoo!) and my goal for this year is to perform a bar muscle-up.
I completely understand that while Crossfit is adaptable to all fitness levels, it isn’t for everyone, but hear me out on a few things.
